The Ghost Of Charles Dickens Haunts Us

Classic Misery

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times,"
Dickens words did say.
But for most of us just getting by
it was just another day.

Another day, another night
when time goes standing still;
hollow sounds from solid walls,
the darkness haunts us still.

The darkness haunts us still, my friend,
returning on the eve.
Shrouding all in misery
is all we can perceive.

All we can perceive, my friend,
is darkness and dismay.
The best of times, the worst of times
are only words today.
